Obstructive Sleep Apnea

What is Obstructive Sleep Apnea?

Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) is a sleep-related breathing disorder in which the upper airway repeatedly becomes partially or completely blocked during sleep. These episodes can cause:

  • Loud or chronic snoring

  • Gasping, choking, or witnessed pauses in breathing

  • Repeated awakenings

  • Morning headaches or dry mouth

  • Daytime sleepiness or fatigue

  • Difficulty concentrating

  • Reduced sleep quality

Untreated OSA has been associated with cardiovascular and other health risks, including hypertension, cardiovascular disease, stroke, and impaired daytime functioning.
