Botox and Dermal Fillers

Botulinum toxin type A- commonly known as Botox, is a type of neurotoxin used both for cosmetic and therapeutic purposes. Widely used to diminish, remove, and help prevent wrinkles; it can also provide relief for patients with severe teeth grinding or TMJ disorders.

Botox works by halting the contractions of the facial muscles. This biochemical process stops the release of acetylcholines needed for muscle contractions, which interferes with the nerve impulses and temporarily relaxes the muscles.

With the help of topical numbing agents and a skilled dentist’s injection techniques, most patients find the procedure to be simple and nearly pain-free.

Dermal filler injections can help smooth deep wrinkles, and can be used for augmentation purposes or facial contouring.

In general, the effects of botox treatments last 4-6 months, and dermal fillers 10-12 months. For better and longer lasting results we recommend more frequent small dosages, versus infrequent large ones.
